    A 30-100 cm tall, erect shrub. Stem divaricately branched, rigid, white, spinescent, circular, glabrous. Leaves on dwarf shoots, 2-5 x 0.5-1 mm, sessile, spathulate, oblong-linear, fleshy, unequal, glabrous, entire, acute. Inflorescence 3-7-flowered, axillary and terminal cymes, rarely solitary. Calyx c. 2.5 mm long, plumose hairy, tube 1-5 mm, teeth 0.5-0.75 mm long, linear plumose-setaceous. Corolla 4.5-5 mm long, puberulous outside, tube c. 23 mm long; lobes 5, lanceolate, acute, c. 2 x 0.5 mm. Stamens attached at the mouth of corolla-tube, ± exserted, filaments short, c. 1 mm long; anthers up to 1.25 mm long. Style c. 3 mm long; stigma simple. Mericarps c. 3 mm long.

    Type: (Oman) Maskat & Iran, province Laristan, Aucher-Eloy 4680 (P, W).

    Distribution: Mascat, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

    A very common species of Southern and lower Baluchistan; usually grows in sandy soil. Leaves are said to be medicinal.
