Nerium tinctorium Roxb.
A small deciduous tree, branchlets glabrous or puberulous, Leaves 7.5-15 x 2.5-5.5 cm, elliptic oblong or obovate, acute or acuminate, base acute or rounded, glabrous or puberulous beneath, with 8-14 pairs of lateral nerves; petiole 2.5-5 turn long. Inflorescence a lax terminal cyme. Flower white or yellowish, fragrant, 2.5 cm across; pedicel 2-1.2 cm long; bracts c. 2.5 mm long, ovate. Calyx c. 2.5 mm long deeply divided, hairy or glorbous, lobes oblong, obtuse, glandular inside, margin scarious. Corolla tube c. 5 mm long, lobes narrow, oblong, obtuse; corona of many linear scales, inserted on the filaments and corolla lobes; anthers white or yellowish, forming a cone. Follicles 25-50 x 6-8 mm wide, united at the apex when young, cylindrical, glabrous, pendulous, striate, seeds 1.25-2 cm long, pale brown; coma twice as long as seed.

Type: India Native of lower region of mountain directly North Coringa in the Kaj. Mmundi Circar, Roxburgh s.n.
Distribution: Native of central India to Burma and Timor; cultivated in Pakistan.
