Stems subglabrous or sparsely pubescent. Petals 13-32 mm long. Style usually glabrescent throughout.
A very common species at high altitudes and latitudes, found often in rocky streambeds and along river banks at 2700-4850 m in Pakistan. Fl. Per.: Jun-Sep. Fr. Per.: Jul-Sep; Distribution: Circumboreal but lacking from European Arctic between Iceland and the mouth of the Kara River in Siberia; absent in the Himalaya between Punjab and Kongbo Province, Tibet, but common elsewhere in the flora region.
