Type: Described from Europe, locality not specified.

Persicaria lapathifolia var. nodosa though characterized by shorter and somewhat lax spike and almost glabrous leaves. However, few intermediates between the type variety and var. nodosa are also met in our region. Though both varieties are often sympatric in distribution but var. nodosa is usually found on higher altitudes, whereas the type variety is widely distributed from plains to higher altitudes; Distribution: Western Himalayas extending up to Western Europe.
