Perennial, erect, glabrous, fistular, up to 1 m tall herb. Leaves petiolate, petiole 30-40 cm long; ochreae reddish, densely hairy; blade ovate, 40 cm long, 30 cm broad, acute, cordate, slightly plicate and repand, glabrous above, hairy below and on the margins, 5-veined. Flowers in panicle; pedicel articulate below the middle, acrescent in fruit; white to pink. Perianth segments 6, in 2 whorls, c. 2 mm long, the inner somewhat larger than the outer. Stigmas white, exserted from the perianth. Fruit oblong-orbicular, retuse, cordate, 13-15 mm long and broad; nut brown, faveolate, rugose, ovate; wings red-hyaline, ± cordate at either end.
Type: Turkestan, Taschkent.
Distribution: Pakistan and Central Asia.
