26. Salix nuristanica A. K. Skvortsov in Nov. Syst. Pl. Vasc. 1965: 94. 1965; in Rech. f., Fl. Iran. 65: 41. 1969. (Fig. 9, A, D).
Low shrubs, 1 m tall; young branches brown, covered by dirty white wooly hairs; old branches black, glabrous. Leaf stipulate, stipule c. 3 mm long, c. 2.5 mm broad, broadly ovate, glabrous on the adaxial side, villous abaxially, margin glandular serrulate, acuminate. Petiole c. 1 mm long, villous; lamina c. 2-3 cm long, 0.9-1.2 cm braod, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, glandular serrulate, villous on both sides, tip acuminate, oblique. Male catkin not seen. Female infructescence sessile c. 1 cm long, with a few reduced leaves; axis profusely villous. Capsule c. 2-2.5 mm long, glabrous; stigmas 4, globular.
Holotype: Nuristan, In declivibus occidentalibus jugi Semenek, 3400 m, Kerst 1512 (W).
Distribution: Afghanistan, Pakistan (Chitral).
It is the first record of this species from Pakistan.
