Holotype: Chitral Drosh Gol, 35o35'N, 71o48'E, 3150 m, 31.7.1958, Bowes Lyon 169 (W) Isotype (BM!).
Occurs on moist and grassy slopes along hill tracks and roads from 3000 to 9000 ft. in loamy-clay soils in forest steppes and meadow slopes of mountains; Distribution: Endemic to Pakistan and Kashmir.
Plant parts, especially leaves and flower heads are used in herbal medicine as antispasmodic, astringent, bitter tonic, sweat-inducer and for reducing fever. Ointments to heal wounds have been made from aerial parts for centuries. Yarrow, combined with other herbs, helps colds, flu, digestion and colic.
