Suffruticose, 15 – 25 (-30) cm tall shrublets with pilose stems. Leaves glabrous, 1 – 2 cm long including petioles, pinnatifid, often 5-lobed, the apex trifid, the uppermost leaves often linear and entire. Capitula solitary, 4 – 6 mm across, campanulate or hemispherical, short peduncled. Phyllaries 2 – 3 mm long, sparsely pilose, with pale brown narrow scarious margins, the apex often puberulent. Receptacle flat or sometimes hemispherical. Ray-florets female, with 9 – 10 (-12) mm long ligules. Disc-florets 2.5 – 3 mm long. Cypselas 5-6-ribbed, 1.5 – 2 (-2.5) mm long. Pappus a corona of short, irregular teeth and free, linear appendages, 0.25 – 1 (-1.5) mm long.

Holotype: Kashmir, Baltitan, Hushe river, ca. 2 miles up stream from Kande, 9500 ft., 25.7.1955, G. L. Webster & E. Nasir 6266 (M) Isotype (K!, W).

Dry sandy or rocky places, between 3000 and 4000 m; Distribution: Endemic to Pakistan (Gilgit and Hunza).
