  • Desmodium pendulum Wall.

    Shrub, 180-240 cm tall, branches drooping, glabrous or pubescent, purplish brown. Leaf trifoliolate, petiole 1.2-2.5 cm long, leaflets 5-7.5 cm long, 2.5-3.0 cm broad, elliptic-oblong, rounded at both ends, mucronate, finely pubescent on both sides; stipules 7.5-12.5 mm long. Inflorescence long axillary and terminal drooping raceme. Bracts 6-7 mm long, ciliate. Pedicels 7.5-13.0 mm long. Calyx 2.5-3.0 mm long, teeth as long as the tube. Corolla 7.5-8.0 mm long, dark blue. Fruit 12.5-18.5 cm long, c. 2.5 mm broad, stipitate, upper suture wavy, lower deeply indented between the seeds, articles 2.5-3.0 mm long, pubescent, 1-6-seeded.

    Holotype: Nepal, Wallich (G-not seen).

    Distribution: Pakistan, Kashmir, India (Punjab, Kumaon, Bengal), Nepal, Sikkim.
