A shrub. Young shoots and leaves covered with a tawny, appressed tomentum. Leaves opposite, broadly ovate, 5-9 cm long, 2.5-6 cm broad; glabrous when mature; petiole 4-9 mm long. Flowers 2-2.5 cm long, tomen¬tose, in axillary fascicles; pedicel 2 mm long; buds acute. Calyculus short, entire. Corolla-tube curved, greenish-brown, tomentose; lobes 4, acute. Stamens 4; filaments crimson. Stigma clavate. Berry 6-7 mm long, ellip¬soid to turbinate, ferruginous.

Type: “Shreenagur, Kamroop”.
Distribution: Nepal, C. India, Ceylon, and N.W. Himalaya up to 1600 m. alt. s.m.
Parasitic on Quercus dilatata Lindl., Phyllanthus emblica Linn. and species of Platanus Linn. Reported from Mirpur in Azad Kashmir.
