  • Conyza candolleana Boiss.

    A much branched, tall, shrub, up to 2 m high, branches terete, striate, glandular pubescent, young ones densely pubescent. Leaves alternate, 2-7.3 x 1-3 cm, elliptic or obovate oblong, sessile, semi-amplexicaul, obtuse or subacute margin entire or remotely and faintly dentate, thick and scabrous with prominent veins on both surfaces, pubescent, hairs multicellular. Capitula on terminal compound corymb, ovoid or campanulate, 4-6 mm in diameter; phyllaries multiseriate, ciliolate, outer ones much shorter than the inner one, ovate 2-3 x 1 mm, middle linear, larger, acute, 3-4 mm long, innermost longest 5-7 mm long, acute, Marginal florets many filiform, female, disc floret bisexual 4-20. Corolla white with pinkish tip, c. 6 mm long, anthers long tailed. Cypselas brownish, small, c. 1 mm long, pappus setae 15-18, barbellate, white.

    Fl.Per.: November-April.

    Holotype: In India Orient. ad Srinaghur, Wallich 3029/139 (G-DC), Isotype (K!).

    The type locality Srinaghur mentioned in Wallich’s specimen is probably in Garhwal not in Kashmir. Hook.f., l.c. also indicated his doubt about the type locality; Distribution: India and Pakistan.
