    Plant up to 15 cm or more tall, efarinose. Leaf (including petiole) 20-35 x 6-11 mm, spathulate to elliptic-obtuse, entire to obscurely denticulate, glabrous, base gradually tapering in to the petiole. Scape 8-15 cm long, fairly stout, (2-) 3-7 flowered, glabrous. Larger bracts dense glandular-punctate, broad lanceolate, 5-9 mm long, margin sparse glandulose, base saccate, and up to 1 mm long, obtuse. Pedicel 4-8 mm long, equalling or exceeding the bracts. Flowers heteromorphic, pale violet to lilac. Calyx 6-7 mm long, tubular-campanulate, dense glandular-punctate, green, 5-ribbed, 1/3 cleft; lobes 1.5-2 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, subacute, margin glandulose. Corolla tube c. 1 ½ times the calyx length; limb 9-11 mm broad, lobes 5-6 mm long, obcordate, throat yellow. Style 7-8 mm long (in long-styled flowers), slightly exserted. Capsule tubular-cylindric, exceeding the calyx in length.

    Holotype: Pamir, ad ripam australum lacus Kara-kul, O. Knotting 797 (LE!).

    Distribution: Pamir Alai, Tien Shan and the N.W. Himalaya.
