Leaves glaucous; palea of central spikelet 0.7-0.8 times as long as palea of lateral spikelets; anthers of central spikelet 0.2-0.5 mm long; prolongation of rhachilla of lateral spikelets stout, orange-brown.

Type: Sinai, Schimper 383 (K).
Distribution: Pakistan (Baluchistan, Punjab, N.W.F.P. & Kashmir); Mediterranean region eastwards to Kashmir; introduced in Australia and North America.
