Parnassia nubicola ssp. occidentalis E.S-Temesy in Rech.f., l.c.
Plant 13-30 cm tall. Leaves l.5-3.5 cm long. 0.7-2 cm broad, ovate-elliptic to oblong, cauline leaf found on the lower half of the scape. Scape angular, thin and slender. Flowers l.3-2.2 cm in diameter. Calyx tube 2-4 mm long, lobes c. 5 mm long, 3 mm broad, lanceolate-elliptic, acute, 3 nerved. Petals l.2-l.5 cm long, 0.5-0.7 cm broad, obovate, claw long, entire or slightly jagged, 7 nerved, obtuse-acute. Staminodes not divaricately lobed; lobes blunt or obscure. Capsule obovoid, 1 cm long. Seeds minute, testa reticulate, not lax.

Distribution: Afghanistan, Karakoram in N.W. Pakistan.
Fairly common in temperate and alpine regions from 2200-3000 m in wet grassy places.
