Perennial herb with a short or long rhizome. Leaves 7-9 in rosettes, coriaceous, fragile, 5-9 cm long, 2-3 cm broad, lamina narrow elliptic-ovate, 5-7 nerved, glabrous, narrowed upwards, obtuse, at the base tapering into short to 8 cm long petioles, dilated at the base, irregularly dentate. Spikes pedunculate; peduncles 10-20 cm long, erect, glabrous or with short white scattered hairs; spikes 10-16 cm long, with distantly set single or clusters of flowers. Bracts shorter than the calyx, broad to round-ovate, carinate, apices membranous, acute. Sepals glabrous, about 2.5 mm long, anterior and posterior sepals dissimilar, broad elliptic to rotundate, apices of the posterior sepals rotundate to ± obtuse, not or slightly membranous, minutely ciliate, lateral lamina rigid, carina prominent on the middle dorsal side, then disappearing in the lateral lamina, carina in the anterior sepal running throughout the length, lateral lamina equal. Corolla lobes 1.25 mm long, rotundate ovate, narrowed shortly in the upper part, apex obtuse. Anthers 2.25 mm long. Capsule immature, depressed; seeds 4-5.

Distribution: Endemic.
