Plants small. Leaves usually glabrous. Bracts brownish, usually broad, upper margin truncate or emarginate to crenate emarginate, carina of the bracts glabrous to slightly pilose.

Type: Wallroth in Willdenow, herb. Ledebour (not seen).

Distribution: Europe, south-west Asia, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan.
