    Tree, 30-40 m tall. Young shoots slightly hairy to glabrous. Leaves 5-costate, broadly ovate, 5-7.5 cm long, 3.5-5.5 cm broad, very sparsely hairy, with bunches of hairs in vein axils, obliquely cordate or somewhat truncate at the base, serrate, abruptly acuminate-acute; petiole 1.5-3.5 cm long, densely hairy. Cymes somewhat umbellate, 5-10-flowered, peduncle as long as or slightly longer than bracts, glabrous; bracts oblong-oblanceolate, 6.5-7.5 cm long, 2-2.5 cm broad, obtuse, glabrous. Flowers c. 1.5 cm across; pedicel 1.2-1.5 cm long. Sepals narrowly ovate, c. 6 mm long, c. 2.5 mm broad, hairy outside, acute. Petals oblanceolate, c. 7 mm long, obtuse. Stamens 30-35, filaments as long as petals. Ovary globose, c. 2 mm long, densely hairy; style c. 3 mm long, glabrous. Fruit broadly ovoid-subglobose, tomentose, apiculate.
