Perennial, bright green, glabrous, suberect herb. Branches erect, with up to c. 3 cm long, terete, striate internodes. Basal leaves trifoliolate, terminal unifoliolate; leaflets linear-oblong, 1-1.2 cm long, mucronate; short petioled; stipular spines needle-like, patent, more than 2 cm long. Flowers large, more than 1.5 cm across, rose coloured, pedicel up to 5 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, c. 5 mm long. Petals spathulate, 1.2-1.5 cm long, c. 6-7 mm broad, obtuse. Stamens with c. 8 mm long filaments. Capsule c. 5 mm long, c. 4 mm broad, thinly hairy.
