Erect, unarmed shrub, up to 5 m tall, glabrous. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, 9-14 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm broad, entire to obscurely serrulate, acuminate; petiole 1.5-2 cm long. Racemes terminal, up to 20 cm long. Flowers 6-7 mm across, lilac; pedicels 2-3 mm long. Calyx-tube c. 4 mm long, minutely pubescent, obscurely 5-toothed. Corolla-tube slightly exceeding the calyx, densely hairy in throat, limb unequally 5-lobed, pubescent on both sides. Drupe c. 8 mm in diameter, yellow, enclosed within the persistent calyx.
