Boissier (Fl. Or. 5: 340.1881) recorded this species from Baluchistan, with reference to Frere ex Aitchison. This is an Afro-Indian species with yellowish to violaceous flowers, 5-15 mm long, subsessile, deflexed, funnel-shaped spathes and annual habit with linear, subulate leaves, 3-15 cm long and 2-7 mm broad. We tried to find an authentic specimen of this species from our area, both in the local as well as the foreign herbaria, but in vain. However, some forms of Commelina albescens Hassk. have been reported to have yellowish or violaceous flowers (see note under that species by some Collectors, and it is just possible, that Frere gathering from Baluchistan) (cited by Boissier) was also Commelina albescens.
