A spiny shrub; bark thin, grey, corky; spines 1.2-2.5 cm long, axillary, straight, slender. Leaves 1.2-5 x 0.7-3 cm, obovate to ovate, serrate, crenate or subentire, coriaceous, slightly pubescent when young; lateral nerves faint; apex acute, obtuse or emarginate; petiole 3-5 mm long. Cymes axillary, shorter than the leaves. Pedicels 3-5 mm long, slender. Calyx lobes ciliate. Petals c. 2 mm long, whitish, ovate-oblong. Ovary sunk in the fleshy disc. Capsules 5-7 mm broad, turbinate, 3-gonous; seeds partially covered with white aril. 
 
Fl. Per. Throughout the year but more generally during the cold season.

Distribution: E. Afghanistan, Pakistan, India.
