A branched straggling perennial. Stem glabrous, whitish green, young shoots puberulous. Leaves ovate to suborbicular, 1.2-4 x 1-2.5 cm, repand to sinuate, acute or obtuse, glabrous to sparsely puberulous, base cuneate to subcordate. Petiole up to 1.5 cm long. Inflorescence rigid, lax. Flowers small, c. 6-6.5 mm long, pink or pinkish-red, 3-5 per node, superposed. Pedicels 1-4 mm long, typically very short and stout. Anthocarps as in Commicarpus boissieri (Heimerl) Cufod.
Fl. Per.: Feb.-March.
Type locality: St. Helena.
Distribution: Tropical and subtropical Africa and Baluchistan.
Not so common as the preceeding species, from which it differs in the rigid and lax inflorescence, usually smaller flowers and short stout pedicels. The habit is that of Commicarpus stenocarpus (Chiov.) Cufod. which, however, is very pubescent.
