Andropogon impressus Hack.
Perennial; culms slender. Leaf-blades 12-18 cm long, 1.5 mm wide, acuminate to a long filiform tip. Racemes 2 cm long, fragile, solitary or several together on short closely spaced branches; internodes and pedicles clavate, ciliate; spatheoles convolute. Sessile spikelet narrowly lanceolate, 5-6 mm long; lower glume inconspicuously nerved, keeled above but merely inflexed below, deeply depressed on the hack, glabrous; upper lemma bind fo below the middle; awn 15-18 mm long, the column well exserted from the glumes. Pedicelled spikelet awnless, up to 7 mm long, on a straight, stoutish pedicel, the lower glume convex on the back.
Type: Kashmir, C. B. Clarke 31433 (K).
Distribution: Kashmir, endemic.
This species is known only from the type.
