The putative parents of this hybrid are Elymordeum nutans Griseb. and Hordeum brevisubulatum (Trip.) Link. Two versions of the hybrid (nothmorphs) are known, derived from different subspecies of Hordeum brevisubulatum and both are endemic to Pakistan:

x Elymordeum bowes –lyonii (E. natuns x Hordeum brevisubulatum subsp. brevisubulatum). x Elymordeum schmidii (Elymordeum nutans x Hordeum brevisubulatum subsp. turkestanicum).

Both of these require experimental confirmation of parentage. x Elymordeum bowes-lyonii, despite not being known outside Pakistan, appears to be derived from a subspecies of Hordeum brevisubulatum which does not occur in our area.
