Perennial herb, with slender stem, 80-150 cm glabrous and circular rarely upper portion softly hairy. Leaves linear, ovate-elliptic, oblong or lanceolate, 2-5 x 0.5-2, cm, glabrous or minutely hispid on the nerves beneath, entire or crenate, apex obtuse, mucronate or acute, base rotundate; petiole upto 5 mm long. Inflorescence a few to many flowered subcorymbose cyme; pedundcle 2-4 cm, glabrous. Flower small, 3-4 mm across, purplish; pedicel filiform, 2-3 mm long, pubescent. Calyx-tube short; lobes lanceolate, acute, c. 2 mm long. Corolla 4-6 mm long, campaunulate. Lobes, ovate-oblong c. 2 mm long. Anthers 2.5 mm long, sagittate, connective elongated, membranous, style very short c. 0.25 mm long; stigma biconical. Follicles 2 c. 15 cm long and 3-4 mm broad. 
 
 
Type: Amu Darya, Kopet Dagh, (LE).
