Asyneuma thomsonii var. strictum (Wendelbo) Kitamura
Plants 30-40 cm tall, hispid, branched. Roots thick, elongated. Leaves sessile to subsessile, 1-4 cm long, up to 1 cm broad, lanceolate to oval, slightly hispid, margin cartilaginous, dentate, apex acute to acuminate. Flowers in dense clusters, bracteate. Bracts minute. linear. Pedicels c. 2 mm long. Sepals glabrous to slightly pubescent Calyx segments linear, c. 3 mm long. Corolla blue, segments c. 1 cm long. Anthers c. 5 mm long. Carpels 3: style c. 1 cm long; stigmas 3. Fruit capsular, globose to oblong; seeds oblong, c.5 mm long, shiny.
Fl. per. June-August.
Type: Chitral Zapotile. W. side of Main Barum GI. c. 3500 m, 9.7.1950, Wendelbo (BG; isotype RAW).
Distribution Afghanistan, Chitral and Gilgit.
A plant of high altitudes.
