Phyllanthus leucopyrus (Willd.) Koenig ex Roxb.Securinega leucopyrus (Willd.) Muell. Arg.
Very like 1, but a rigid shrub with pale grey or whitish branches bearing thorny lateral branchlets, having narrowly obovate-spathulate, retuse or obcordate leaves rarely exceeding 2.5 cm in length, which tend to be somewhat shiny above.
Holotype: India, Klein in jib. Willd. No. 18342 & 2 isotypes (B-WILLD.); IDC Microfiche No. 7440.30/1334: II. 2-5!.
No specimen referable to this species seen by the author from Pakistan however. Reported from ‘Salt Range’ (Brandis, Indian Trees, 569. 1906), Punjab Plains (Duthie, Fl. Upp. Gang. Fl. 3: 92. 1915) and Sind (Jafri, Fl. Kar. 193. 1966). Distribution: According to Webster (unpublished TS), only in S. India and Sri Lanka; according to Airy Shaw (Kew Bull. 26(2): 340. 1972), also in Burma and Thailand; according to M.G. Gilbert (pers. comm.), also in Ethiopia, Somalia, Socotra and S. Arabia, Pakistan.
