2b. Teucrium scordium var. serratum (Benth.) Hedge & Lamond in Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinb. 28: 146. 1968. Stewart, l.c. 636.
I.C. Hedge
Teucrium scordium subsp. serratum (Benth.) Rech. f.Teucrium scordium* L.: KaulTeucrium serratum* Benth.
Type: [Afghanistan/Pakistan] “In regno Cabulico”, Griffith (G, K!).
Distribution of variety: NE Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan.
In an earlier account (Hedge & Lamond l.c.), Teucrium scordium var. scordium was recorded from Kurram, based on Aitchison 449 (K), but the specimen is better identified as var. serratum. Rechinger (l.c.) may be correct in giving our two taxa subspecific rather than varietal rank, but an overall assessment of all the taxa in this widespread species is needed.
