A frequent and variable taxon. Whether Thymus lineans (s.l.) is restricted to the Himalayan-Afghanistan area and is indeed not present in Soviet C. Asia requires a review of the several species recognized in the latter area. The commonest species in Soviet C. Asia is apparently Thymus seravschanicus Klok. (cf. Tuljaganova in Vvedensky, Conspect. Fl. As. Med. 9: 167. 1987).
