Hedyotis umbellata (L.) Lamk.
Perennial, diffuse-decumbent herbs. Stem obtusely quadrangular, scabridulous-papillose, intemodes 1-1.5 cm long. Leaves 7-10 x 0.8-2 mm, linear, acute, margins flat or recurved, glabrous-scabrulous above and glabrous beneath, stipules 1.5-2 mm long, fimbriate, fimbri usually 4. Inflorescence of pedunculate, congested cymes, 3-many-flowered. Peduncle 6-12 mm long, scabridulous-papillose. Flowers heterostylous; pedicel 0.5-1 mm long, margin scabridulous. Corolla white; tube 1-1.5 mm long, throat hairy; lobes c. 1.5 mm long, base pilose. Stamens in brachystylous flower less than 1 mm long, anthers c. 1 mm long. Style in brachystylous flower 0.7 mm, in dolichostylous 2-2.5 mm long. Capsule globose, 1.8 mm long and c. 2 mm broad.

Type: Habitat in India, Herb. Linn. 155/7 (LINN).
Distribution: India, Ceylon, Burma, Pakistan (Sind) and west Tropical Africa.
A new record for Pakistan and apparently a rare species as it could not be recollected.
