4. Gaillonia chitralensis Nazim., sp. nov. affinis Gaillonia asperuliformis sed inflorescentia laxa, calycis tubo 2-2.5 mm longo, limbo corollae tubum infundibulari aequanti; corollae lobis linemi-lanceolatis, cucullatis, stylis inclusis diflen.

Small shrub up to 60 cm fall, woody at base. Stem much branched from the base, older branches white, ± glabrous, younger branches green, circular, puberulous; internodes 2-2.5 cm long. Leaves opposite, linear, sessile, revolute, 10-30 x 0.5-1 mm, apex acute; stipules connate, 1-2-dentate. Inflorescence terminal elongated cymes, bracts and bracteoles linear, densely pubescent. Flowers pink, 5-6 mm long, pedicels 1-2 mm long, enlarged up to 4 mm in fruit. Calyx-tube 2-2.5 mm long, white pubescent, teeth up to 1.5 mm long, almost equalling the corolla-tube, linear, pubescent. Corolla infundibuliform, 3-4 mm, pubescent outside; tube c. 1.5 mm long, lobes 5, broadly linear-lanceolate, thickened and incurved, 1.5-2 mm long. Stamens 5, inserted below the mouth of the corolla, ± sessile, anthers oblong, dorsifrxed. Style included, 2-2.5 mm long, stigma branched. Mericarps 3-3.5 mm long, with persistent calyx-teeth.

Distribution: Endemic to Chitral.
