Annual-biennial, up to 13 cm high, branched from base and above, green, glabrous herb. Basal leaves longer than cauline, indistinctly rosulate, 1-4 (-5) x 0.25-0.75 cm, linear-lanceolate, margin cartilaginously hyaline, entire, deflexed, acuminate, sessile, univeined, cauline leaves 0.75-2.0(-2.5) x 025-1.0 cm, indistinctly 3-veined. Inflorescence terminal as well as axillary. Flowers 0.5-2.0 cm long, sessile, campanulate, 1-2(-3) on each peduncle, enveloped by two upper leaves. Calyx 0.5-1.0(4.5) cm long, almost half the length of corolla, tube 0.4-0.8 cm long, lobes 0.25-0.6 x 0.2-0.5 (-0.6) cm, lanceolate-ovate, margin cartilaginous, entire, acuminate, carinate. Corolla 0.5-2.0 cm long, blue, fimbriate, fimbriae filiform, acute-acuminate, at level of anthers, tube much longer than lobes, up to 1.8 cm long, gradually ending into a funnel lobes 0.2-0.5 x 0.1-0.2 cm, lanceolate-ovate, crenate, acute, streaked. Plicae smaller than lobes, serrate, acuminate. Stamens inserted, filament long, adnate at base of corolla lobes, anthers dorsifixed, 2-lobed. Ovary 0.3-0.6 x 0.20-0.25 cm, ovate, stipitate, style long, slender, stigma bifid, coiled. Capsule obovoid, stipitate, exserted from corolla, many seeded. Seeds small, brown, ovoid, reticulate.
