Perennial herb, lower portion woody, robust, branches flexuous, circular in transverse section, branchlets ± reflexed. Leaves (in the lower part) with a spur. Cladodes 1-3 mostly one per node, subulate, ± spreading 1.3-4-(6) cm long. Flowers one or two in the axils. Pedicel articulated above the middle, 3-4 mm long. Fruit small, black.

Lectotype: Beloochistan superior, 1851, Stocks 1114 pro parte (K).

There are three sheets in the Kew Herbarium bearing the same collection number. Two of the sheets bear the printed labels, whereas one bears the hand written labels. It also has the species name and place of publication in the hand writing of Baker. Incidently two sheets have also been designated as type. On one of the sheets, a leaf of Yucca is also mounted. Distribution: Pakistan (Balochistan) and Afghanistan.
