Potentilla arbuscula var. ochreata (Lindl.) Hand.-Mazz.Potentilla fruticosa var. ochreata (Lindl.) Lehm.
Perennial, erect shrubs up to 100 cm. tall. Stem branched, woody, reddish-brown. Leaves pinnate, 5-11 foliolate, petioles 5-15 mm. long, pubescent. Stipules ovate-obtuse, pale-brown, hairy to subglabrous. Leaflets narrowly oblong-elliptic to linear oblong, strongly revolute, upper surface sparsely to densely adpressed hairy above, lower surface densely white tomentose together with long soft white hairs. Flowers mostly terminal, 1.5 cm. diam, pedicels 0.8-1.0 cm. long, 3-5 cm. in fruit, pubescent. Outer sepals linear-lanceolate acute, entire or divided, white tomentose and with long soft hairs, much shorter than the inner, oblong-ovate sepals. Petals suborbicular, yellow 0.6-0.7 cm. long. Stamens about 20. Carpels numerous, densely hairy, styles c. 2 mm. long, clavate. Achenes completely concealed in long soft pale white hairs.

Distribution: Pakistan, Kashmir, India, Nepal and China (Xizang).
A high alpine perennial shrub, fairly common in Kashmir, collected only from Gilgit agency in Pakistan, between 3-5,000 m. Generally found in rock crevices.
