    Plant 15-45 cm high, strigulose with closely appressed hairs, sometimes densely so. Petioles of lower leaves 2-5 cm long, blade 15-25 mm wide, trifid into broadly cuneate, toothed or lobed segments, cauline leaves remote, with short petioles, blade of cauline leaves 2-3 cm, with a few lobes, 1-3 mm or more wide. Bracts entire. Inflorescence a simple raceme. Pedicels 5-15 mm, ascending. Bracteoles 1.5-2 mm, linear-lanceolate, arising above middle of pedicels. Sepals pale blue, ± strigulose. Upper sepal 7 x 3 mm, spur 10-15 mm, straight, pointed, lateral sepal 7 x 5 mm, round to ovate, pubescent along the middle only, lower sepals 8 x 6 mm. Upper petals glabrous, 9-11 mm, limb oblique, yellowish or bluish, terminal lobe 1 mm, spur 12 mm, limb of lower petals oblong or roundish-oblong, divided to 2.5-3.5 mm, sparsely hairy, claw 4 mm long. Stamens 4.5-5 mm. Follicles 3, strigulose.

    The species Delphinium swatense as figured and described by the authors (op.cit.) appears to be Delphinium suave. The character of the stem with dense appressed hairs and the spur longer than upper sepal is also found in Delphinium suave.
