Ranunculus lancifolius Bertol.Ranunculus palifolius Dunn
Perennial. Stems creeping with long filiform stolons rooting at the nodes. Radical leaves 30-40 mm long, blade oblong, 3-dentate, as long as the petiole or slightly shorter, with tru ncate or rounded base. Leaves of stolons usually similar. Flowers solitary on leafless peduncles up to 3 cm long. Sepals 5, hairy outside, ovate, ± 5 mm long. Petals yellow, as long as sepals, 5 or more. Carpels forming a globose head, not compressed, ovoid, ribbed, c. 1 mm in diameter. Style (beak) long, hooked.
Type: India Orientalis, Ladak in region alpina, 12-16000 pad.
Distribution: Pamir, Himalaya, Tibet, Nepal.
A comparison of Dunn's type specimen at Kew (Mulra Valley, at 3300 m, T. Thomson) with the description and plate of Bertolini l.c. indicates that Ranunculus paIifolius is conspecific with Ranunculus lancifolius.
