Perianth dark brown, apex of inner series rounded. Capsules dark brown, 1 mm longer than perianth. 2n = 36.
Flowering and fruiting summer--early fall. Wet areas along lakes, streams and rivers, especially on spray areas or occasionally flooded outcrops, coastal to low montane areas; below 300 m; B.C.; Calif., Idaho, Mont., Oreg., Wash.; Asia (Japan); Pacific Islands (Kuriles).
