凹舌蘭屬
Terrestrial herbs with palmate fleshy tuberoids. Stems erect, stout, with few alternate and equidistantly arranged leaves, sheathing at base. Inflorescence terminal, spicate, densely flowered; bracts large, foliaceous, variable in length. Flowers greenish; sepals subequal, broad, connivent; petals narrower, forming hood with dorsal sepal; lip cuneate, shallowly 3-lobed near apex, with short saccate spur at base; column stout, with small staminodes on both sides; anther large, with broad connective, cells widely divergent below; pollinia 2, sectile, with distinct caudicle and rounded viscidium; stigma unlobed, nearly orbicular, depressed in cavity, rostellum crescent-like, with widely spreading lateral arms ending in partly enclosed viscidia; ovary nearly sessile, twisted.
About 4 species, common in northern temperate regions. One species recorded from Taiwan.
