瓶頭草屬

Perennial rhizomatous or stoloniferous herbs or small subshrubs. Stems scape-like, unbranched; basal leaves rosulate, linear-oblanceolate-spatulate, entire or usually dentate-lobed. Heads hetero-gamous, solitary, rarely 2 or 3, radiate, on long scapiform, peduncle. Involucral bracts in 2-4 series. Receptacle convex, naked. Ray florets pistillate, in 1 or more series, ligulate, white to purple. Disc florets few, tubular, 4- or 5-lobed, bisexual or functionally staminate. Achenes flattened, obovate to oblanceolate, with marginal ribs, with or without a short glandular beak. Pappus absent.

About 30 species from Japan through southeast Asia to Australia and New Zealand, also in Central and South America, one species in Taiwan.
