Perennial herbs. Stems erect, branched, branches spreading. Leaves alternate, oblanceolate, loosely toothed. Heads heterogamous, radiate, axillary, in spreading leafy panicles or racemes or spikes. Involucre broadly campanulate, imbricate, in few series. Ray florets pistillate, ligulate, in 2-3 series, whitish. Disc florets bisexual, fertile, corolla tube short, limb campanulate, 5-lobed. Achenes obovate, compressed, narrowed at both ends, ribbed on margins, beaked in ray florets, beakless or short beaked in disc florets. Pappus absent or of few, minute, easily deciduous bristles.
One species in eastern Asia, Malaysia and India.
