假吐金菊屬

Soliva pterosperma

Annual herbs with pinnatisect leaves. Heads solitary, sessile in leaf axils, disciform. Receptacle convex or conical. Outer florets pistillate, fertile, in several rows; tube and limb absent; style persistent and spinescent in fruit. Central florets functionally staminate; corolla 3- or 4- lobed. Achenes dorsiventrally flattened, with two lateral vascular strands, laterally winged; wings sometimes projected to apical teeth, sometimes transversely rugose to sulcate. Pappus absent.

Eight species in South America, North America and Australia; two species naturalized in Taiwan.

KEY TO SPECIES

1 Leaves 5-15 cm long; heads often restricted to basal portion of plant, frequently clustered and rooting at base; disc florets with 3-lobed corolla and 3 stamens; style soft to touch at maturity; achenes villous at apex, margins thick, corky, rugulose.   Soliva anthemifolia
+ Leaves 1.5-5 cm long; heads scattered along stem, never clustered near base of plant, not rooting at base; disc florets with 4-lobed corolla and 4 stamens, style becoming hard and spinose at maturity; achenes not villous at apex, with thin, papery wings, wings with an indentation below middle.   Soliva pterosperma
