Small leafless epiphytic herbs. Roots radiate, green or grayish green, much longer than inflorescence, relatively thick, usually flattened. Stems obscure. Racemes with few scales; bracts minute. Flowers few, perianth not spreading; sepals and petals subequal, usually connate at base into a tube; lip sessile, 3-lobed or undivided, spurred or saccate at base, sometimes incurved and slender apically and forming an introrse appendage; column stout, footless; anther terminal, opercular, 2-celled; pollinia 4, distinct, waxy, nearly equal, not porate or cleft, on a slender stipe with a large viscidium.
About 120 species, mainly in Papua New Guinea, extending to China and Japan, also in Australia and Tahiti. Two species in Taiwan.
