Solanum hidetaroi Masamune
Unarmed climbing herbs; stems sometimes hollow, slightly angular, glabrate or puberulent with simple hairs. Leaves ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 3-13 cm long, 2-6.5 cm wide, distal leaves 1.5-1.8 cm long, 0.6 cm wide, apically acuminate, basally rounded or cuneate, slightly oblique, entire, puberulent or glabrate above, glabrate beneath; petiole 0.7-1.5 cm long. Inflorescences extra-axillary, lax, open, many-flowered panicles; peduncle 2-10 cm long, glabrous to puberulent; pedicel 5-15 mm long, glabrous. Flowers with calyx 2.5 mm across, the lobes ovate triangular or rounded, 0.5-1 mm long, mucronate, puberulent above; corolla white or dark blue with basal spots outside, the tube 0.8 mm long, the limb 4 mm long, the lobes lanceolate, 1.3-5 mm long, apically pubescent, ciliate; filaments 0.5-1 mm, anthers free, 1.8-2.8 mm long; ovary glabrous. Berry shiny red, globose, 5-12 mm across; fruiting pedicel 12-15 cm long; fruiting calyx spreading; seeds yellowish, discoid, 1.5-3 mm across.

Distributed in the mainland of China and North Vietnam. In Taiwan reported to climb on Taiwannia trees, 900-1,000 m elevation. Flowering in September, fruiting in December and February.
