  • Aster baccharoides (Benth.) Steetz.

    Perennial suffrutescent erect herbs, sparsely branched, stems terete, 40-100 cm tall, tomentose, densely branching in inflorescence. Cauline leaves dense, alternate, slightly chartaceous, ovate to narrowly ovate, 3.5-5 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, apex acute, base rounded, sessile or short petiolate, margins sparsely dentate apically with 2-4 pairs of teeth, hispidulous on both surfaces, lower surface glandular punctate, trinerved at base; basal leaves withered at anthesis. Heads many in paniculate-corymbose inflorescences, 6-10 mm across; peduncle 5-15 mm long. Involucre turbinate or campanulate, 6-7 mm tall, 5-6.5 mm across. Bracts 4 or 5 seriate, entire, oblong-lanceolate, apex obtuse to round, margins ciliate; outermost bracts smaller, 1.5-2 mm long, inner bracts gradually longer, to 4-4.5 mm long, obtuse. Receptacle alveolate. Ray florets in 1 series, ligules white, 7-8 mm long, 1.5 mm wide. Disc florets 4-4.5 mm long. Pappus dirty white or reddish-brown, 4.5 mm long. Achenes oblong, slightly compressed, 2 mm long, 0.8 mm broad, strigose. Fl. Aug.
