Plants annual, 35-70 cm tall. Stem conspicuously striate or tetragonous, robust, succulent, simple or branched in upper part. Lower and middle leaves opposite; petiole short, 5-15 mm, with 2 stipitate glands at base; leaf blade ovate-oblong or oblong, 5-8 × 2-3 cm, glabrous, lateral veins 5-9 pairs, base rounded or slightly cordate, margin crenate-serrate, apex acuminate. Upper leaves alternate, sessile; leaf blade ovate or ovate-oblong, rarely ovate-lanceolate, 4-7 × 1.5-3.5 cm, base cordate, amplexicaul, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, subcorymbose or racemose, usually 5-7-flowered; peduncles 3-5 cm. Pedicels 5-7 mm, swollen at apex, bracteate at base; bracts ovate-lanceolate. Flowers pink, 1.5-1.7 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely ovate, 3.5-4 mm, 5-veined, base cordate, apex mucronulate. Lower sepal dark purple spotted, broadly funnelform, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur 6-9 mm. Upper petal suborbicular, 6-7 × 6-7 mm, apex long rostellate, abaxial midvein carinate; lateral united petals ± clawed, ca. 1.4 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes ovate-orbicular, apex acuminate; distal lobes oblong-dolabriform, apex slightly obtuse; auricle rounded. Filaments linear, ca. 4 mm; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule linear-oblong, 1.4-2 cm. Seeds 8, black, oblong-ovoid, ca. 3 mm, smooth. Fl. Aug-Sep.
