Plants annual, 30-70 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, branched. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, green adaxially, elliptic or ovate-oblong, 5.5-10 × 3.5-5 cm, membranous, lateral veins 6 or 7 pairs, base rounded or cordate, margin coarsely crenate, teeth retuse and glandular-mucronulate, apex obtuse or slightly acute. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2- or 3(or 4)-flowered; peduncles longer than petioles or 2.5-3 cm. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, slender, elongate at fruiting, bracteate above middle; bracts persistent, ovate, 2-3 mm, apex acuminate. Flowers yellowish, large, 1.5-2 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, broadly ovate or subcordate, 5-6 × 4-5 mm, hyaline margined, green veined, mucronulate. Lower sepal purple spotted, funnelform, 1.5-2 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur; spur 1-1.5 cm, slender; mouth vertical, 6-7 mm wide, tip mucronulate. Upper petal subreniform, 0.8-1 cm, apex shortly rostellate, abaxial midvein slightly thickened, narrowly carinate; lateral united petals long clawed, ca. 2 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular, apex obtuse or retuse; distal lobes narrowly elliptic, large, margin undulate, apex obtuse. Filaments linear; anthers ovoid, apex acute. Ovary fusiform. Capsule linear, 2-2.5 cm. Seeds few, brown, oblong, 3-4 mm, smooth. Fl. Jul-Aug, fr. Sep-Oct.
