Plants 30-70 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, stout in lower part, branched, stem and branches sparsely glandular. Leaves alternate; petiole to 1 cm, winged; leaf blade gray abaxially, ovate-lanceolate, 5-7 × 2-3 cm, thinly membranous, setose between teeth, lateral veins 5-7 pairs, base broadly cuneate, margin crenate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences many flowered; peduncles erect, nearly as long as upper leaves, slender. Pedicels fibrous, 1-1.5 cm, bracteate at base; bracts lanceolate, 2-3 mm, apex glandular aristate. Flowers orange, small. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely lanceolate, 3-4.5 mm, apex glandular aristate. Lower sepal navicular, limb to 2.5 cm deep, narrowed into an incurved spur longer than limb; mouth oblique, 6-8 mm, tip cuspidate. Upper petal orbicular or oblate, ca. 6 mm in diam., abaxial midvein conspicuously carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, 1-2 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes suborbicular; distal lobes dolabriform, longer, apex obtuse. Filaments ca. 2 mm; anthers obtuse. Ovary linear. Seeds few, brown, obovoid, ca. 2.5 mm, tuberculate. Fl. and fr. Jul-Aug.
