苍山凤仙花 cang shan feng xian hua

Plants annual, small, 15-20 cm tall. Stem purple, slender, succulent, many branched from base; stem, branches, and peduncles deep purple spotted. Leaves subsessile or shortly petiolate; petiole with 2 sessile basal glands; leaf blade abaxially greenish, inconspicuously purple spotted, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 1-2 cm × 5-8 mm, rigidly papery, lower part with 2 or 3 pairs of ciliate stipitate glands, lateral veins 3 or 4 pairs, base narrowly cuneate, margin crenate-serrate or serrulate, apex slightly acute or shortly acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 1(or 2)-flowered, sometimes with abortive flowering bud; peduncles often overtopping leaves. Pedicels 5-7 mm, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, ovate, ca. 2 mm. Flowers purple, ca. 2 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely ovate-orbicular, ca. 3 × 2.5 mm, abaxially thickened, apex mucronulate. Lower sepal saccate-funnelform, 1-1.1 cm deep, narrowed into an incurved spur ca. 6 mm. Upper petal tetragonous-orbicular, ca. 6 × 11 mm, apex emarginate, abaxial midvein narrowly carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, short, ca. 1.1 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes subtetragonous; distal lobes broadly dolabriform, ca. 2.5 × as long as basal lobes, apex acute; auricle inflexed, subovate. Filaments linear; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform, ca. 3 mm, rostellate. Capsule subfusiform, 1.2-1.5 cm. Seeds brown, oblong-ovoid, compressed, ca. 3 mm, smooth. Fl. Sep-Oct.
