Plants annual, 20-40 cm tall. Stem tetragonous with glands at nodes, glabrous, simple or few branched. Leaves opposite in lower part of stem, alternate in upper part of stem, sessile; leaf blade oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 5-15 × 2.5-5 cm, glabrous, lateral veins 9 or 10 pairs, base rounded or cordate, amplexicaul, with globose glands, margin crenate-serrate throughout, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences axillary, umbellate or racemose, 6-12-flowered. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, apex swollen, bracteate at base; bracts ovate-lanceolate. Flowers pink or pink-purple. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely orbicular, rarely falcate. Lower sepal obliquely saccate, abruptly narrowed into an inflexed, short spur. Upper petal suborbicular, apex rostellate, abaxial midvein narrowly carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, 2-lobed; basal lobes suborbicular, apex acuminate; distal lobes spotted, ovate; auricle inflexed, narrow. Anthers obtuse. Capsule subcylindric. Seeds black-brown, obovoid. Fl. Jul-Aug, fr. Aug-Sep.
Thickets along roadsides; 2900-3200 m. Xizang [NW India, Nepal].
