粗茎凤仙花 cu jing feng xian hua

Plants annual, 20-30 cm tall. Stem robust, ca. 1 cm in diam. at base, succulent, with many fibrous roots, many branched from base. Leaves alternate; petiole 1-3 cm; leaf blade ovate, 3-5 × 1-2 cm, glabrous, lateral veins 4 or 5 pairs, base attenuate into petiole, margin crenate-serrate, apex caudate-acuminate. Inflorescences many, axillary or terminal, racemose, few flowered; peduncles erect or spreading, shorter or longer than leaves, slender. Pedicels 6-8 mm, bracteate at base; bracts ± persistent, ovate, 3-4 mm. Flowers yellow or yellowish, small, to 1.5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, narrowly triangular-ovate, 1-veined. Lower sepal shortly navicular, narrowed into an erect spur 2-2.5 cm. Upper petal orbicular, ca. 8 mm in diam., apex obtuse, abaxial midvein thickly carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular; distal lobes dolabriform, ca. 2 × as long as basal lobes; auricle rounded. Anthers obtuse. Capsule linear, 2-2.5 cm. Fl. and fr. Sep.

● Along canals; ca. 3300 m. Sichuan, Xizang, Yunnan.
